hello and welcome back to this rendition of motion talks! I was super fortunate to be able to visit this cool creative agency based in NYC called Brand New School. Shout out Hei Kuok for being such an amazing homie and showing me around (go check her work out!).
Brand New School, but not a school?
Brand New School is a creative agency with four specialties:
- brand & strategy: dealing with brand direction, strategy, you name it.
- creative & design: visual representation of strategy, design systems, etc
- motion & content: where motion design lives! paired with sister systems such as film and CGI production
- creative technology: dealing in the realm of tech w/web development and AI tools
They’ve previously worked with Google, Pinterest, Apple TV+, and more!
creatively on the web
Probably one of the most innovative agency website I’ve come across so far. Their 404 page is tailored to their branding – having your typical 404 dinosaur game to play – but based in a school setting. I am terrible at this and only got to 400 points.

the spot where it’s hot
Housed in ‘soho’ (south of houston), the in-person office is one floor that hosts many curved monitors, sports a minimalist design, and many bookshelves. It gives versatility. Collaboration is supported as teams sit together, allowing for seniors to be closer to juniors. Creatives can also move about the space- taking their laptops elsewhere for a change in scenery.

Other parts of the floor are specifically designed for certain roles. I was able to see the editing suite, where they even had a keyboard with colored shortcuts for Premiere editing.

cool swag :0
couldn’t just leave without some memorabilia! Took some stickers (the coffee ones are from their ChatGPT campaign) and a pencil with the agency’s name on it! Of course, their iconic logo found itself on the back of my creative journal 🙂

big shout out to Hei once again for letting me tour the space! I would have not been able to without her, and wouldn’t have found myself in NYC without the Most Promising program. So grateful for the chance!
see you in the next rendition of motion talks!
